About Us

Care and Love will be recognized as a leading center for independent living, adapting to the changing needs of our communities and individuals with disabilities.

I am Hyamavati Patina.

I Just thought of sharing some things about me and my Journey with Care and Love Foundation. I am blessed with a wonderful family my husband Kurma and our two beautiful children, Praneeth, our older son and Hanshik, our younger son.

My family has been my supporting pillar through all of life’s challenges and their love and support have been crucial in shaping my journey.

I have always been a joyful and easygoing person. I love singing, dancing and spending time with friends. But when I was 12 years old, my life took an unexpected turn. While playing with my friends, I collapsed suddenly. After going to the hospital, I learned that I was diagnosed with a heart condition that required surgery. At the age of 12, I underwent my first heart surgery for mitral valve repair.
After my surgery, I went on to complete my education and got married. However, after my marriage, my health began to deteriorate again. My husband and I made the difficult decision to delay starting a family until my health could be stabilized. In 2011, I underwent a second heart surgery, a mitral valve replacement, at Care Hospital in Hyderabad. This surgery marked a pivotal moment in my life. It was after this operation, with the support of my husband, that I made a promise to myself to give back to society and help those in need. Together, we made the mutual decision to dedicate ourselves to making the world a better place for others. especially for those who face the kinds of challenges I had experienced. This is when I made the decision to start Care and Love Home.
Our mission was to support marginalized communities, particularly children with intellectual disabilities a group that is often neglected because of the complexities involved in their care. With the help of my family, we formed a team and provided a permanent home for these children, many of whom were abandoned or in dire conditions. Watching them grow up under our care has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Also I realized that I needed to expand our work even further. I began collaborating with other organizations to provide a broader range of services, including disaster recovery, emergency relief efforts, financial assistance for patients and food distribution. We organized blood donation camps, COVID-19 relief efforts and provided essential supplies like blankets, vitamins and food to slum areas.Life moved on and I became a mother of two. However, in 2020, after the birth of my second child, Hanshik, my tissue valve began to fail and I needed another surgery. This time, I underwent a third open-heart surgery to replace my valve with a mechanical one. The mechanical valve was a long-term solution, but it came with a lifelong requirement I had to take blood thinners for the rest of my life to prevent blood clots from forming. .

This brought about a new set of challenges. Being on blood thinners, especially Warfarin, requires strict monitoring of my blood levels because any imbalance can cause serious complications. I also had to stop consuming any food rich in Vitamin K, such as leafy greens, which could interfere with the medication. Despite these adjustments, it was difficult to maintain consistent blood levels. The worst part came during my menstrual periods. The combination of blood thinners and my natural cycle led to extremely heavy bleeding.

For almost a year, I struggled with uncontrollable bleeding during my periods. I was hospitalized multiple times due to severe blood loss and we had to call 911 and rush to the emergency room on several occasions. The doctors could only give me blood transfusions to restore my hemoglobin levels, but there wasn’t an immediate solution. My periods became a nightmare. My hemoglobin levels would drop drastically and it was a constant battle to stabilize my health. We consulted with numerous gynecologists and after trying various treatment plans, I finally found a solution that worked for me. Today, my blood flow is under control and I’m back to living a more stable life, though I still remain on blood thinners. During these difficult years, I found myself constantly thinking about others who might be facing similar challenges without the resources or support that I had. As a woman who has faced her own health challenges, I felt a strong need to support women’s health as well. This led me to start HERSAFE, a sanitary pad manufacturing company that provides free sanitary pads to women in rural areas of India. Initially, we partnered with other organizations to distribute sanitary products, but I felt the need to do more. HERSAFE now produces and distributes pads on a larger scale, with the goal of reaching even more women who lack access to basic hygiene products. Throughout this journey, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to meet countless people who were inspired by our mission. Today, I am proud to say that Care and Love Foundation has over 200 dedicated volunteers. These volunteers have become like family, working alongside us to provide services to the poor and underprivileged. Their commitment and passion have allowed us to extend our reach and make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need. I am deeply grateful for the support of my family, friends and the amazing team of volunteers who have joined me in this mission. Through Care and Love Foundation both in the US and India I will continue to fulfill the promise I made to myself in 2011, helping those who cannot help themselves.

Life is challenging, but we must strive to make it meaningful. The path I have chosen to help those in need gives me immense pleasure and I will continue to do my best to create an even greater impact for the betterment of society. Despite all the challenges I’ve faced, I still find joy in the simple things singing, dancing and spending time with the people I love. Life may not always be easy, but it has been incredibly fulfilling.
